Standing Meditation
From today we will start the new posture of meditation One leg standing posture Vrikshasana/manuasana (tree pose)
This pose improves your balance and strengthens. Two set of postures are shown in the pictures both postures to be done one after the other.
As this posture requires balance, stand still for 3 minute, close your eyes and meditate. Next try this postures, by this time your body will be in equilibrium and can start balancing.Place your right foot high up on your left thigh. The sole of the foot should be flat and placed firmly. Keep your left leg straight and find your balance. As you will be doing for first time it may take some time to get balance, initially you can take a support of a wall, chair or a tree by standing near to them. While inhaling raise your arms over your head and bring your palms together/for second posture while inhaling.stretch your arms and bring your palms together slowly, ensure that your spine is straight and take a few deep breaths. Now close your eyes, observe your breath for a while let it be natural do not force your breath or alter the equilibrium of the breath, initially do this exercise for 3 to 5 Minutes, gradually increase the duration for 7 to 9 minutes, once completed open your eyes slowly. As your are doing this for first time you may be off balance for some time, no worries its natural. Slowly exhale, bring your hands down and release your right leg. Back in the standing position repeat the same with the other leg and other posture.
Repeat the above steps for 24 (12 days each set of posture) days continuously, if you are comfortable you can extend the duration of meditation gradually & make a note in your book each day what you experienced while meditating.
we will analyse your experience in coming days.
