Continuing with the previous post,

I believe by know you have completed Synchronized Deep Breathing (SDB) & Synchronized Short Continuous Breathing (SSCB) cycles to an extent & are regularly practicing meditation also.

You can start the next breathing exercise if you have done SDB & SSCB for min. 24 days and in cycles of min 24 per day. this breathing exercise is called Variable pulse Breathing (VTB) or Variable Time Breathing (VTB) exercise.

Be cam and composed start with SDB & SSCB for 12 times, as you need pin point focused concentration initially to began with, until auto memory recall set in.

Start the VTB with sitting posture, once practiced for min. 24 days in 24 cycles you can try out the other postures too.  

Steps to be followed for VTB

  • Inhale gradually through your nose as much you can 
  • Hold the breath for 3 sec
  • Exhale through your nose in a variable pattern (Exhale for 1 sec. hold for 2 sec. exhale for 2 sec. hold for 5 sec.) continue this till the last breath in a variable pattern only.
  • Inhale through your nose in a variable pattern (Inhale for 2 sec. hold for 4 sec. inhale for 1 sec. hold for 5 sec.) continue this till you feel fullness, do this in a variable pattern of inhaling and hold, it should not be done in rhythm. (Time mentioned is only for reference)
  • Inhale for fullest (till you feel belly is full/empty), exhale for 4 sec pause for a sec. Inhale for 3 sec. pause for 1 sec. exhale for 5 sec. continue for some time in between inhale & exhale for fullest. {fullest (till you feel belly is full/empty)}
  • Practice Inhale & exhale in variable time patterns. There is no definite pattern for this exercise that's  the beauty of this VTB.  

Initially you may feel discomfort, its natural as you are practicing it for first time. As days go by you will be comfortable.

Repeat the VTB exercise in cycle of 12 to start with and gradually increase to 24, 36, 48 cycles for 12 days to start with and increase number of days accordingly with cycles.

This can be practiced depending on your health condition, consult your doctor before starting this exercise. If you feel uncomfortable while doing this exercise take a break & continue. Still problem persist consult your doctor immediately.
